How the italian companies pay: CRIBIS analysis of Q3 2019

The payments study published by CRIBIS in September 2019 shows that 34.9% of Italian companies pay on time. Whereas the payments exceeding 30 days of delay reach 11.5%.

Looking at the data by company dimension, the Micro companies confirm a positive performance - even if falling - with a concentration of 35.9%. At the same time, they also record the highest amounts of serious delays (12.6 %).

At the geographical level, the North East is the most reliable area with 42.9% of regular payments, while southern firms have more difficulties. In fact 21.9% are the virtuous companies.

On the other side, Lombardy and Emilia Romagna are the regions with the highest number of regular payments (45.4% and 44.3%), while Sicily occupies the last position of the regional ranking with 17, 3%.

Among the regions where the situation has improved there are Liguria, Molise and Abruzzo, which registered a reduction in payments with delays exceeding one month.

At the end, the number of companies that pay their suppliers more than 30 days late has grown in almost all Italian regions, with higher variations in Valle d'Aosta (+ 2.7%), Calabria (+ 1.9%) and Sardinia (+ 0.9%).

The most punctual sector is the Financial Services (46%), while in the Retail Trade the payments at maturity cover 25.4% of the companies.
